Builders get quizzical to raise funds for retirement village

CONSTRUCTION workers are setting out to prove they have brains as well as brawn as they prepare to do battle in a huge quiz about Sheffield.

The Great Big All Sheffield quiz is being staged to raise cash for a 2.6 million appeal fund for social and leisure facilities at ExtraCare’s retirement village, Brunswick Gardens, which opens in Woodhouse next year.

The event has caught the imagination of the seven construction partners working with Sheffield Homes, which manages the day-to-day running of council homes in the city.

Ateam from Sheffield Homes will go head to head with its construction partners in the property, design and construction heat of the quiz.

Sheffield Homes director of investment Jon Lovibond said: “The team we are entering will be swotting up over the next few weeks in the hope of winning.

“Creating quality housing is central to everything we do, so the provision of a new ExtraCare village for older people in the City is close to our hearts and we are proud to be able to support it alongside our contractors.”
