Can they Merc it a double?

TUESDAY could be the day of a major music upset if Sheffield's omnipresent Arctic Monkeys bag the Nationwide Mercury Prize for a second year.

When the shortlist was announced the globe-trotting quartet were given joint 4/1 odds with Amy Winehouse by bookies William Hill to win it.

Then again, again, there are some other wild ones in there - past winner Dizzee Rascal is listed as are The Young Knives.

Maps made a classy debut in We Can Create, then Fionn Regan also has that angle covered with his stunning debut bagging the singer-songwriter vote.

Klaxons is maybe too commercial, so that leaves Bat For Lashes (joint 5/2 odds with Wineface), New Young Pony Club, The View (20/1) and the slightly irritating Jamie T to fight it out as well.
