Club owner's meeting plea

THE owner of a Sheffield club which had its licence revoked following police complaints has organised a community meeting in the hope residents will speak out in his favour.

Castell Fanty, who owns the Cactus Club in Earsham Street, Burngreave, claims that many people living nearby are unhappy with Sheffield Council’s decision to revoke the licence after police claimed it was at the centre of a series of drug, firearm and knife offences

Mr Fanty says no stabbings have ever taken place at the club and a nearby shooting was wrongly associated with the venue.

He has invited local residents, police, Sheffield Council representatives and other community agencies to the meeting at the club at 6pm today.
