Crackdown nets 300

MORE than 300 people have been arrested in Sheffield as part of a summer police crackdown.

The drive is part of a regional campaign in Yorkshire and Humberside which has seen officers recover 230,000 of drugs and seize 82 vehicles.

Over the coming weeks the police will target those who have failed to show up for court, prolific offenders and perpetrators of violent crime, domestic abuse, vandalism and vehicle theft.

More than 1,000 people have been arrested in South, West and North Yorkshire and Humberside in the first week of the operation codenamed Maximum Impact on Crime.
