Crossing plea turned down

A PETITION calling for a pedestrian crossing outside a Sheffield pub has failed - because the site is deemed not dangerous enough.

Some 253 people had signed a petition calling on Sheffield Council to provide a safe system for crossing Hemsworth Road, in front of The New Inn pub and restaurant, near Graves Park.

But a council study which counted traffic and pedestrians, and surveyed speeds on the road, said the location did not scored highly enough in the council’s priority assessment procedure for funding.
