Friends house is re-opened

VISITORS flocked to a beautiful Derbyshire building which opened its doors for the first time after a year of refurbishment.

The Grade II-listed Friends Meeting House in Bakewell, home of the Bakewell Quakers, has been revamped thanks to five years of hard work by the Friends - planning, fundraising and applying for grants to improve the building without spoiling its character.

Activities included badge-making, face painting and other craft work for children, as well as a huge model railway in the new upstairs room.
