Internet tributes in memory of biker, 22

TRIBUTES to a Sheffield dad who died in a motorcycle smash have been paid on a website set up in his memory by a pal.

Biker Khalid Callaghan, aged 22, died in the Northern General Hospital last week after he was in collision with a car close to his home on the Manor estate.

The dad-of-one was on his way to see his mother Janet.

Now his friend Karen Grayson has set up the page on the gonetoosoon.com website and urged Khalid’s friends and relatives to visit and leave messages of condolence and support for his family.

Khalid leaves behind mum Janet, dad Ali, and childhood sweetheart Becky Fairhurst, who is the mother of his 10-month-old daughter Lexi.

He also leaves brother Nabile, 20, and three sisters Natasha,15, Jade,13 and three-year-old Letitia.

The web page shows a picture of Khalid cradling his daughter while Avril Lavigne’s hit When You’re Gone plays.

One message on the site reads: “Known you a long time, been a great friend, miss you always, loads of love, Simone.”

Another states: “What a waste of a young man and daddy. Look down over your little Lexi and her mum showering them with your love. I’m sure her mummy will make sure she knows how much her daddy loved her.”

Karen said: “Everyone is finding it so hard coming to terms with the fact that we won’t be seeing his face or hearing his voice ever again. It is still so hard to believe that he is gone.”

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash, just before 9.30pm last Tuesday on Harborough Avenue, which involved a silver Subaru Impreza. Call the Accident Witness Line on 0114 220 2970.
