Kids plant seeds for green future

WELL done to Wincobank youngsters who have been making their area a pleasant place to live by helping to plant trees in the district, hoping to create a greener place for generations to come.

It is easy to be dismissive of today's teenagers, courtesy of the anti social antics of a few. But the truth is that this initiative is the tip of a good natured iceberg which involves groups of youngsters across the city getting involved in similar schemes.

They are a tribute to their communities and we hope this helps convince people who sometimes get the impression they are under siege from the younger generation that reality can sometimes be far different.

A STUDY shows that students in the city are actually getting a job long before they have completed their studies. Yorkshire Bank researchers show that while students have always sought part time jobs to help pay bills during their university years, these days they tend to look for work which fits in with their chosen careers.

This is clear indication that students are far from being the layabouts they are sometimes believed to be and in fact have an eye to the future.

But what is even more important is that they are actively working to make their ambitions come true.

Nowadays, when many things are made easy for people, it is particularly reassuring to come across youngsters who are willing to roll up their sleeves and do the groundwork for a future, which will be all the brighter for it.

If you're moving into the perfect neighbourhood, you don't want the neighbours thinking you have no taste, do you?
