M1 slammed for 'poor' roadworks

THE M1 at Rotherham has been slammed in a new AA survey which names and shames the best and worst managed roadworks in Europe.

Motorists travelling along the M1 are not getting enough information about roadworks at the site according to the survey which rate it as 'poor' during the day and at night.

AA public affairs head Paul Watters said: "UK drivers loathe motorway roadworks but they are an unfortunate fact of life. The Highways Agency needs to keep improving control of and techniques at roadwork sites."

The UK was found to have the best-managed and safest roadworks in Europe.
