Man has died after M1 crash

A MAN in his 20s who was involved in a serious road crash on the M1 in Derbyshire has died in hospital.

The man, who has not yet been named, died at 9.45am on Thursday morning in The Kings Mill Centre, Sutton in Ashfield.

A Derbyshire Police spokeswoman said the man was from the North East but had not yet been formally identified.

He was driving a Honda Civic when it was involved in a collision with a Volkswagen Passat and a Ford Focus between junctions 28 and 29 of the M1 at 5am on Wednesday.

The motorway was closed for more than seven hours while police investigations into the cause of the smash took place and the wreckage recovered.
