Man mugged for £2.80

MUGGERS ambushed a 54-year-old man in Worksop and punched him in the head - all for £2.80. The man was outside the Bodrum Grill on Newcastle Avenue when two younger men approached him and asked for money.

But when he said he had no cash, one of them punched him in the head causing a swelling which required treatment at Bassetlaw District and General Hospital. A few minutes after the first attack, the pair returned pretending they were going to apologise - before searching his pockets and stealing around 2.80.

The men were both aged between 19 and 20 and wearing jeans. One had on a light blue t-shirt with a horizontal stripe, while the other had a dark blue t-shirt with a shoulder stripe.

They were last seen walking towards Netto supermarket in Memorial Avenue, Worksop, following the attack at around 7.20pm on Monday.
