OAP John, 72 lands £3,000

A GRUELLING 917-mile trip from Land's End to John O'Groats held no fears for pedalling pensioner Roger Linstead.

The 72-year-old, pictured, got on his bike to raise around 3,000 for the School of Philosophy in Sheffield where he is a senior tutor.

Roger, from Ecclesall, took on his marathon challenge as part of the school’s campaign to raise 170,000 to improve and extend its premises on Carterknowle Road.

He said: “It was a challenging but marvellous experience.”

Roger embarked on a solo ride but was joined at various stages by his wife Dilys, son Peter and other friends.
