Peak charity walks

WALKERS are being urged to lace up their boots and head for the Peak District to help people with cancer.

Macmillan Cancer Support is holding two walks, a six mile family walk which takes in the magnificent views and landscape of Ladybower, or a more challenging 12 mile walk around Derwent and Howden Reservoirs.

Both walks, on Sunday October 28, start and finish at Fairholmes Visitors Centre at Derwent off the A57, in the Derwent Valley.

The charity is asking anyone who takes part to pay a 3 registration fee, which includes a refreshment voucher, and then raise what they can in sponsorship.

Proceeds will help Macmillan provide seven new local cancer nurse specialists, over 132,000 in patient grants in Sheffield and a new city-wide Macmillan Carers Support Scheme.
