Ring 101 for booze worries

WORRIED Sheffield residents are being urged to call 101 if they know of any shops selling alcohol to underage drinkers.

The non-emergency number is helps deal with anti-social behaviour such as vandalism and graffiti, threatening and abusive behaviour, drunk and rowdy groups, abandoned vehicles and noisy neighbours.

But 101 advisers are also now able to take calls from people worried about off-licences or shops in Sheffield knowingly selling alcohol to under 18s.

New licensing laws, which came into effect in November 2005, increased the maximum fine for selling alcohol to under 18s from 1,000 to 5,000.
