Schoolboy cyclist fights for life

A SCHOOLBOY was left fighting for his life after losing control of his bike and colliding with a car in Sheffield.

The 11-year-old, who has not been named, was riding his red and black pedal bike down a steep hill on land off Manchester Road, Stocksbridge, when he lost control.

At the bottom, he struck a parked red Volkswagen Bora and was thrown from his bike.

He was taken to Sheffield Children's Hospital were he is being treated for serious head and face injuries, broken ribs, punctured lung and a right broken leg and arm.

Police are appalling for witnesses to the accident which occurred at 2.30pm on Saturday.
