Sheffield City Council has announced that businesses can apply for a temporary pavement cafe consent, which is intended to help get businesses back up and running during the Covid-19 pandemic.
This scheme will allow businesses to place tables and chairs on the pavement for customer use all this year and is free of charge.

Hide AdVenues can operate between 10am and 9pm, need a plan in place to manage numbers of customers, how they can move around the venue, collect customers’ details and operate table service where possible.
Outside seating must stay within the shop frontage, have pedestrian barriers and have enough space for people to distance from each other. There must also be smoking and non-smoking areas.

Tim Nye from Marmadukes, who have cafes in Norfolk Row and Cambridge Street, said: “We have outdoor seating at both city sites. We have bought parasols, they are ready and waiting, thankfully we haven’t needed them yet due to the wonderful sunshine this week.
