Hundreds of lights have been spotted above the sky in Sheffield and this could be why

It seems that’s exactly what a lot of people in Sheffield have been doing tonight after spotting ‘hundreds of lights flashing across the sky’.

A quick look on Twitter shows it isn’t just Sheffield experiencing this phenomenon.

Many Twitter users have posted looking for answers as to why they have just seen moving lights in the sky, in a line towards one another.

Some have guessed it could be a cluster of satellites known as Starlink making its way over.

However, meteors were predicted to glitter across the Northern Hemisphere’s night skies this week.

The meteor shower is expected to peak on Tuesday night but the spectacularly light shower could already be underway.

The Lyrid Meteor Shower occurs every April and it is due to start tonight.
