Here are 9 pubs you should visit in Sheffield – according to an industry expert.
They have been chosen by Jules Gray, organiser of the annual Sheffield Beer Week, which takes places each Spring.
She said: “Sheffield Beer Week at its core shines the spotlight on the unison of beer and food, community and heritage; with a continued celebration of women working in the beer industry.”
In these confusing and worrying times, local journalism is more vital than ever. Thanks to everyone who helps us ask the questions that matter by taking out a digital subscription or buying a paper. We stand together. Nancy Fielder, editor.
Next up is the Triple Point Brewery on Shoreham Street in the city centre. Jules said: "A brewery and taproom space, only a 10 minute walk from Sheffield’s main central train station. There’s also a newly developed spacious terraced seating space to the front. Great to watch the world go by." Photo: Google
Another Abbeydale Road pub on the list is Picture House Social. "An underground music focused bar with a landscaped large outdoor terrace nestled out back. Head to the bar and you’ll find three handpulled guest ales. Also known for their delicious cocktails and food. You can tuck into pizzas and nibbles handmade onsite from the in-house kitchen team," said Jules. Pictured is Tariq Navarone at the Picture House Social in June 2019. Photo: Scott Merrylees
First on the list is The Beer House on Ecclesall Road, which has the proud title of being Sheffield's first micropub. Jules said of The Beer House: "Sheffield’s original micropub houses just 40 drinkers but they are well provided for with six handpulls. Focussing on Sheffield’s breweries you can expect to find Blue Bee, Bradfield, Stancill and Abbeydale in top form. Small yet perfectly formed outside terrace seating to the front."

The Fat Cat on Alma Street in Kelham Island is one of the city's best loved boozers. "Nearly thirty years ago the Fat Cat introduced Sheffield to the concept of a constantly changing range of guest beers, and this is still the philosophy of the pub today. As the Kelham Island Brewery tap, you’ll find their Pale Rider and Best Bitter regularly on the bar – along with a great selection from around the country. Great landscaped beer garden. Situated next to the Kelham Island Brewery," said Jules. Photo: Andrew Roe
