VIDEO: New Britain's Strongest Man Adam Bishop celebrates with Paddy McGuinness at Sheffield FlyDSA Arena

It was a case of ‘let the strongman see the trophy’ when the Take Me Out star turned up as a guest of his pal, ex-World’s Strongest Man now Giants Live events pundit, TV and soon to be movie star Eddie Hall.

Bishop now has his sights set on becoming Europe's Strongest Man at the next Giants Live arena event at Leeds First Direct Arena on Saturday, April 4. For tickets – CLICK HERE.

Bishop, aged 31, in his first interview after becoming British champ, revealed: "It feels amazing. It's the culmination of a lot of hard training - most of the time on my own, in the dark, in a wooden shed.

"I will be at Europe's Strongest Man in Leeds but first I plan on enjoying myself tonight."

He will face ex World's Strongest Man, TV's Games Of Thrones star and current European champ, Hafþór Júlíus 'Thor' Björnsson and Scotland's strongest brothers Tom and Luke Stoltman - who took second and third in Sheffield on Saturday night.

Strongman Tom, 25, set a new Atlas Stones world record, placing the five huge stones on their plinths in an astonishing 16.01 seconds.

TV star Paddy McGuinness told the crowd he had been training with Eddie Hall - but would leave the strongman competitions to the experts.

Eddie, who will also be at the Leeds show, has an exciting year ahead after going into business with Arnold Schwarzenegger and he has the lead role coming up in his own movie, a UK version of the Michael Douglas classic Falling Down, which will be shot in Manchester this summer.

He said strongman competitions have come a long way from pub car parks to filling arenas since he won his first national title just a decade ago.

Eddie said: "I first won England's Strongest Man 10 years ago in a pub car park in Newcastle upon Tyne - now here we are selling out stadiums. It is absolutely phenomenal and just amazing how far the sport has come over the years.

"It's not just the athletes it's the promoters and it's the fans. Thank you so much to the fans out there. You're absolutely amazing without your support without your views, we wouldn't be doing what we do or what we love, so thank you so much

"I will be at Europe’s Strongest Man in Leeds. It's gonna be an absolute cracking night, possibly another sell out and you never know it could be another Adam Bishop on that top podium. It could be one of the Stoltmans.

"Last year Adam narrowly missed out on first place at Britain’s. He fumbled his log press. He did exactly the same again. But he kept his composure, and he worked his way right to that top spot. I think he's still phenomenal.

"Tom and Luke Stoltman second and third were also amazing. I think Tom will get better and better. A second place is probably the best thing that can happen to him - these little setbacks and failures make you go away, train harder, eat hard and sleep to recover better. I think this is going to teach Tom to go and do all those things, and come back. It's World's Strongest Man in five months - he came fifth last year. can you improve on that? I think he will.”Of his own year ahead he added: "I've been busy since I retired as the World's Strongest Man. I've done TV shows Eddie Eats America and The Strongest Man In History. I'm doing a big documentary with Arnold Schwarzenegger. I'm actually going into business with him as well. And I've got the lead role in my own movie that we're going to film in July. It'll be out in 2021. So you know, a mega, mega exciting year ahead of me."

Giants Live co-owner Darren Sadler said of the British championship: "It was an unbelievable show, so close – tooth and nail right to the end with Adam Bishop taking it and the Stoltmans on the platform behind him. But the chase all the way was unbelievable. We even had a world record in the stones, Tom Stoltman did a time of 16.01 – the record had been16.09 set by Mateusz Kieliskowski on that set of stones. What Tom did was amazing but he still couldn't beat Adam in the whole competition. It was just unbelievable.

"I felt it was Adam's time. He's been second, nipping everyone's toes. He's a technician; unbelievably strong. And I felt it was his time.Tom and Luke are going to have their time.

“The next step for these guys is Europe's Strongest Man - they're gonna go against Thor and all these big guys from the rest of Europe and see if they can take Thor's crown. Who knows? But that will be April 4 at Leeds Arena. We're also back here for Britain’s Strongest Man in Sheffield again next year and tickets are already now on sale.”
