TV star meets volunteers and presents award to hospital

EMMERDALE favourite Donna Windsor-Dingle ditched the Dales to congratulate volunteers at Sheffield's Northern General Hospital.

Actress Verity Rushworth dropped into the hospital to present a national award highlighting the trust’s commitment to encouraging volunteers and overseeing their well-being.

She chatted with volunteers to find out more about the vital work they do.

Acting voluntary services manager Alan Smith said everyone was delighted to get a chance to meet the star of the small screen.

“This award demonstrates our commitment to ensuring that each and every one of our 700 volunteers is fully supported in their role, and has access to training and personal development opportunities,” he said.

The trust is only the second organisation in Sheffield to achieve Investors in Volunteers accreditation.
