Can you give a home to one of these pooches at a Sheffield animal shelter?
Thornberry Animal Sanctuary, based in North Anston, is a rescue centre and a registered charity that works tirelessly to care for a number of animals, from tiny hamsters to great big horses.
Much of the volunteers’ workload is taken up by caring for the dozens of dogs that come through the gates of the shelter. Some may have been found as strays, others have suffered neglect, while others have been given up due to an unfortunate change in circumstances - but one thing they all have in common is that they need a loving home.
Thornberry spends much of its money on the care of its animals, and is always grateful for donations to help manage the costs. Visit their website to find out how you can donate to the charity.
Dougie is full of beans and will need all his basic training. He is best suited to an experienced home, ideally with some experience of high energy dogs. Dougie will need a lot of mental stimulation as well as exercise. He could live with children aged 14+ and should be exercised in areas which aren’t too busy initially as he can be overwhelmed in busy places.
Happy Hugo is a lovable staffy cross. Typical of the breed, his tail never stops wagging. He is a medium-large crossbreed. After his initial burst of excitement Hugo walks nicely on the lead. He has not been socialised much with other dogs but can walk past them without an issue. He should be the only pet in his new home and could live with children.
Timone was rehomed from us earlier in the year but sadly a change in circumstances has resulted in his return. He is still a puppy and very much missing his home comforts. Timone would benefit from ongoing basic training such as recall so he can burn off some steam. He is best suited to a home with low leaving hours initially and could live with another adult dog but this is not essential. He could live with children aged 12+ and needs a secure garden.
Poppy is a gentle girl who is missing her home comforts. She loves to sit on the sofa with you and is a very loyal little lady. She is ok with dogs out and about but much prefers people, so should be the only pet in the home. She is best suited to live with children over 12+ just as she is used to a quieter life - but is a friendly girl.
